Tim Hortons, CIBC, Introduce Double Double Visa Card

The double-double is a phrase distinct to Canadians and used almost exclusively to order coffee at the iconic Tim Hortons chain.  Today, CIBC and Tim Hortons teamed up to launch the Double Double Visa card, a unique partnership that combines a credit card with a classic Tim Card at the touch of a button.

The first-of-its-kind technology allows cardholders to toggle between the credit card and the loyalty program by pressing one of two illuminated buttons built into the card.

Simply activate the CIBC Visa button to pay for purchases anywhere Visa is accepted.  One percent of every dollar spent is then converted instantly into Tim Cash rewards.  To redeem your rewards, press the Tim Card button on your Double Double card and cash in for your favourite items at Tim Hortons.

Each button on the CIBC Tim Hortons Double Double Visa Card has its own coloured light that illuminates when the cardholder chooses either the Visa or Tim Card option.

You’ll get $20 in Tim Cash once you spend $200 on the Visa card.  In addition, for every five Tim Hortons purchases and five other CIBC Visa purchases in one month, you’ll get a free baked good at Tim Hortons.  Finally, every time you make 50 credit card transactions you’ll get a free 50-pack of Tim Bits.

While other co-branded retail credit cards like Amazon.ca Rewards Visa, Scotia Scene Visa, and RBC Shoppers Optimum MasterCard, allow you to earn more rewards for purchases at the partner retailer, Double Double Visa cardholders just get the straight 1 percent back for Tim’s purchases.

You can check and add to your reward balance online at www.timhortons.com.
